Post-Surgical Rehabilitation

Coordinated progression

When your surgeon provides a protocol or specific restrictions, we use those instructions to guide therapy. If a progression is unclear, the safest next step is coordinated before advancing.

Common post-operative pathways

  • Foot and ankle reconstruction
  • Total ankle replacement
  • Bunion correction
  • Achilles repair
  • Fracture fixation
  • Knee arthroscopy and ACL reconstruction
  • Hip or knee replacement
  • Shoulder repair
  • Selected spine procedures

What patients should know after each visit

You should understand what you are allowed to do, what to avoid, what your home program includes, and what milestone comes next.

FAQ

When should I start physical therapy after surgery?

The start date depends on the procedure, tissue healing, surgeon preference, and restrictions. Follow the instructions provided by your surgeon and bring any rehabilitation protocol to your first visit.

Will physical therapy hurt after surgery?

Some stiffness, soreness, or fatigue can occur as activity progresses. Therapy should be adjusted to the stage of healing and your response; new or concerning symptoms should be discussed with your care team.

Do you communicate with my surgeon?

Bridge is designed to support coordinated orthopedic care. When clarification is needed regarding restrictions or progression, the therapy team can communicate with the treating team as appropriate.
